G28
The designated marksmen rifle variant of the H&K 417. This generally would not be considered a true sniper rifle by many Western standards. H&K themselves claims it’s only capable of 1.5” MOA, which is more befitting of the DMR role. (Photo credit: Tyrosize)

Your move…

A rather interesting take on chess, the company Chess Ammo designed a set using brass and aluminum copies of actual cartridges. I’ll link their site if you want buy a set ($65.00) but you could also make your own with your calibers of choice. Their piece-to-ammo chart is below.

Pawn = 9x19mm

Rook = 50 Action Express

Knight = .454 Casull

Bishop = 7.62x39mm (Cartridge represented is actually 5.56x45mm)

Queen = 45-70 Govt

King = 30-06

Glockarov

A Glock lookalike made by some rather intrepid Russian with just a few simple tools (drill, file, chisel). It is chambered in 9x18mm Makarov, a caliber that Glock does not offer. The frame is not polymer, rather a mixture of epoxy and sawdust molded around a steel frame. Apparently it is safe to shoot but there is no video yet to back up the claim.

SAR-3

A Romanian made AK variant chambered in 5.56x45mm/.223. The SAR-1 was the 7.62x39mm version and the SAR-2 was the 5.45x39mm version. Note the lack of barrel threads and flash hider. Unlike WASR rifles, the SAR models have the receive dimples which some people prefer.

Can I just say how cool it was that both of these superheroines’ personalities and powers were explored in this episode? And how well it was done?

Starfire was not shamed for being emotional. Her powers come from her emotions.

Raven was not shamed for suppressing her emotions. Her power requires amazing control.

They both. Work. They are both different kinds of strength, and they are both heroic and powerful and good. And they each learned from the other, and helped each other out by seeing from each others’ perspective, and finding the value in their differing approaches! Wow!

Fuck yes, this is how you write super-ladies, okay. There’s more than one way to be a “strong female character.” There’s all different kinds of strength. Why don’t more people GET this?
